Swagbucks offers a somewhat easy method of adding $25 – $100 (more if you are especially dedicated) to your budget every month.
Swagbucks currency equates to one penny per SB / point. Payouts are available via Paypal or an array of gift cards and start at $3 (300 points called SB).
If you do not have an active Swagbucks account, I will walk you through the process of setting one up, earning Swagbucks (points) as you do. If you already have an account, you are welcome to follow along and pick up any info that may be of use to you. 😉
TIP: Before signing up, I would suggest creating a new, separate Gmail email address (Gmail is great about weeding out the spam). Your use of Swagbucks will generate a lot of email from various sources. Setting up a separate email account will keep your everyday inbox free of this excess email. If you already have a Gmail account, you can import the new Gmail account’s mail and filter into its own folder.
Create an account. Signing up is quick and easy.
TIP: Notice “I have a sign up code” under Confirm Password? Click that and enter Rooney70 for 70 bonus Swagbucks points to start off with!
TIP: If you want to start off with an extra 2000 points right off the bat, plus an additional 300 points at the beginning of next month, in addition to the 70 bonus points with the code above, click this link to sign up for Swagbucks and try out Hulu. Details on the Hulu promo at the end of this post. This promo is for a limited time only.
You’ll see the following once you sign up… Click each to start earning Swagbucks right away!
Note: The Dollar Shave Club is a current promotion and may change.
TIP: I would suggest using the same email address for all offers and activities on Swagbucks as the email address you used when signing up or it may prevent an offer from properly crediting.
Answer profile questions. These are usually worth around 2 SBs (Swagbucks points) for every 10 questions.
Profile set-up… You have the option to create your own user name and upload a picture.
TIP: Creating your own user name and uploading an image qualifies you to be a random hourly winner on the Swagbucks blog, The Daily Swag! It is a big prize and you have to see it and claim it, but you never know!
The Daily Goal – You’ll find quick access to this at the top of any page through the Swagbucks site. Meeting your daily (blue) goal qualifies you for bonus Swagbucks points. The bonus points are collected all at once the following month.
Once you meet your blue goal, there’s a second (red) goal with a higher bonus amount.
In addition to daily bonus points for meeting your blue goal (and red goal if you meet that, too!), there are bonus points for 1 week, 2 week, 3 week, and one month winning streaks. The longer you meet your blue goal every day, the higher the winning streak bonus will be.
Explore The Site! There are a plethora of ways to earn Swagbucks and I’ll be sharing more details about them, but for now here is a brief overview:
Do all your online searches through the Swagbucks search engine. You may be randomly awarded with points just for searching!
The Daily To Do List
You’ll find this on the sidebar on the left side of the screen about halfway down. Most of these usually gives 1 SB each, plus the amount earned for completing a survey, as well as bonus points for being a step away from completing the list and for completing the entire list.
Surveys vary in length and points. Some will award 1 SB if you are disqualified or when they are over the limit for participants.
Most days, videos are the top way I earn points. My favorites are the ones that auto-run so I can start and let them play while I clean or take care of other tasks.
This is by far the largest area on Swagbucks. From printing coupons to trials to free apps to exploring insurance and other offers to more videos and surveys, the content and ways to earn in this area are almost limitless. Many simply require sharing your email address and a couple of click-throughs.
If you are going to make an online purchase, check here first. Visiting the online retailer through a Swagbucks link may earn you points back on your purchase.
TIP: Before making your online purchase, check My Gift Cards Plus on the Swagbucks site to see if they offer a gift card for the retailer. Purchase the gift card (get points!), then use the gift card to make your online purchase (get more points!).
Note: Some times it may take up to a day or two to receive the gift card in your email, so you may need to plan ahead for purchases.
Play games & earn points!
Swagbucks offers apps for your devices to earn on the go by answering surveys and watching videos.
TIP: If you are going to let videos run while you are out and about, check for wifi to save your data.
Cash out! When you have accumulated 300 points, you can cash out for a $3 gift card. Or save up for a higher value gift card.
TIP: The first $25 gift card you purchase each month is only 2200 points, which is a 300 point ($3) savings!

If you’ve been thinking about trying Hulu, this is the time to do it. Thanks to an offer through Swagbucks, you get $20 (paid in the form of points called SB) for trying Hulu for a month. That will cost you $7.99, so you’re making $12 on the deal!

They’re a site where you earn points (called SB) for doing things like online shopping, watching videos, taking surveys, and discovering deals and services you might like to try (like Hulu!). You then take those points and turn them into free gift cards to places like Amazon, Starbucks, Walmart, Target, or PayPal cash.
This is a great time to join because when you sign up through the link above and get your 2000 SB, you’ll get a bonus 300 SB at the beginning of February. So that’s $20 (2000 SB) for trying Hulu plus your $3 (300 SB) bouns, which gets you 2300 SB, which means you make $15 total just for watching TV!
TIP: Use 2200 of those 2300 points to score a $25 gift card (with $1 in points left over). Pay $8 and get $26 = $18 profit!
