2016 Summer Reading Programs

Public Library Summer Reading Kit 2016

We took the boys to the library to sign up for the summer reading program.  We left with a large stack of books, the summer reading kits, and a calendar of fun summer events that’s part of the library’s summer reading program.

Oh, and also a gentle nudging to sign myself up for the adult summer reading program.  I’m assuming that one doesn’t have stickers and weekly prizes, though.  Ha!

Our library’s reading log just has places for the stickers, not an actual log (list) of the books.  I think we are also going to use this Reading Log as a master copy to keep track of the books (especially if we do other summer reading programs):

Poppin’ By To Wish You A Great Summer – End Of Year Treat Bag

Popping By To Wish You A Great Summer 1These are the treat bags I put together for B’s 4th grade class as a fun way to kick start their summer.  I did something similar for C’s Pre-K class, but found bubbles with little graduation caps on them.

Popping By To Wish You A Great Summer 2Great “Popping” items to include in a goodie bag (or on their own for a simpler treat):

Bubbles
Ring Pops
Pop Rocks
Bubble Gum (these are Double Bubble fruity flavors!)
Blow Pops or Tootsie Pops
Popcorn
Coke / Soft Drink / Soda Pop

These could also work for Teacher Appreciation, neighbor gifts, etc.

Organizing My Life With Mom’s Weekly Planner

Organizing My Life With Moms Weekly Planner

The Mom’s Weekly Planner 18-month family calendar has been my tried and true planner of choice for {I can’t even remember now how many} years. I ordered it over the holiday weekend and had it in my hands on Tuesday, thanks to Amazon Prime.

Amazon Prime gets the not-so-patient me.

Moms Weekly Planner 2

The planner works great just the way it is, but if you need to customize it, it certainly lends itself to that.

The weekly pages has a square for Mom and up to 4 additional family members for each morning, afternoon, and evening (3 places for info, appointments, practices, etc for each family member each day).

Moms Weekly Planner 3If you happen to need a column for a 6th family member, you could white out or cover the words morning / afternoon / evening and utilize that column.

If you have less family members, but need columns for personal, family and business / work notes or appointments, this planner easily accommodates that.

I love the notes section on the first and/or last page of the weekly pages for each month.  Especially during the months that have lots of writing space!  The actual notes space varies each month, depending on which days of the week the month starts and ends.

I’ve personally ordered mine on Amazon every summer, but Mom’s Weekly Planner may be available elsewhere as well.
